Since arriving in Nicaragua I’ve been researching how to create an inclusive tour package for people with disabilities in this developing country. When we talk about accessible or inclusive travel, the two terms may mean very different things, I prefer inclusive as if everything is accessible and therefore easy, where’s the challenge?
These tours aren’t going to appeal to everyone; neither will all of the tour be available to all people with all types of disabilities. Some things just aren’t available here in
The routes take in many aspects of Central American history, art, culture and nature. The holidays are also socially aware in encouraging our clients to meet the people of Nicaragua, especially disabled people.
As with AccessibleBarcelona I am working with the philosophy of encouraging independent travel for disabled people. Although much more support may be required by disabled people to travel in Central America, we will ensure that your clients can make independent decisions throughout the planning of their trip as well as during the time that they are actually here.
I have researched accessible hotels, tourist attractions and museums throughout the region to ensure the highest level of comfort possible for your clients during their stay whilst providing an authentic taste of Nicaragua. As usual, I have assessed all the facilities personally and full details with descriptions and photographs are available.
The current route is based on either a 7 or 14 night stay and you will visit the following places:
- Meet and Greet at Managua Airport and transfer to an accessible hotel in Managua
- Driving tour in Managua
- Transfers and excursions in Matagalpa
- Transfer to Granada and excursions in and around the city
- Transfer to León and excursions in and around the city
The tours can be as flexible as you like and you can either choose to use one of AccessibleNicaragua’s set routes or you can adapt them to your own interests and requirements.
