Costa Rica Highlights - Cypress Falls Lodgings and Guest House

As I wrote on the 22nd June in the post “Do you know the way to San José?” I stayed at Casa Yoses in the Capital, but after a few days I met up with John Tansey an American Ex-Patriot that has an inclusive guest house for people with disabilities just north of a town called Heredia.

The guest house, called Cypress Falls, is set in beautiful grounds including lawns, flower beds, a small Cypress tree forest, ponds and waterfall including frogs! The views of the Central Valley and dominating hills are amazing both during the day and also at night as the distance shines and shimmers with a jumble of orange lights.

There are 3 buildings on the property, one of which is John’s home and also doubles as the lodgings. The room for people with disabilities is large with a double bed and plenty of light as there are large windows and patio doors which lead onto the garden terrace. The bathroom is also spacious with a level access shower and sliding door for easy entrance.

Lower down in the grounds is another the guest house which has 3 bedrooms, one of which has a level access shower. It also boasts a jacuzzi, kitchen, living room and an upstairs area for the kids to play and sleep. This is an ideal get-away for parents that have a disability with kids that like to have fun!

The yet unfinished apartments will be amazing when complete, one of which has a bathroom with a level access shower. The apartments have ramped access to the rear of the building as they are on the first floor which means that the terrace where you can either sit outside or behind large French Doors offer an even better view of the surrounding countryside.

All in all, the short time that I was at Cypress Falls, offered a realxing environment and the best universal design accommodation that I came across during my first visit to Costa Rica. John is open and welcoming, did I mention he likes to talk? I spent hours and hours with John on the terrace staring at the stars and countryside whiling away the time with pleasant chit-chat.

Below are some photos of Cypress Falls, unfortunately, I don’t have any of the bathrooms but I post them when I get them.
